FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short, straight answers to the questions our call centre hears most. Can’t see yours? Call 020 7889 1111 - we’re open 24/7.

Response

How quickly can WeFix London get an engineer to me?

For emergencies we aim to have an engineer with you within one hour, 24 hours a day, often sooner. Non-urgent work is booked at a time that suits you. Call 020 7889 1111 and a real person at our London call centre will give you an arrival time.

Hours

Are you really open 24 hours a day?

Yes. Our London call centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including weekends, Christmas and bank holidays, and our engineers work through the night. Every call is answered by our own trained staff, never an automated system or an outsourced answering service.

Prices

How much does a plumber cost per hour in London with WeFix?

Our plumbing rate is £145 per hour from 7am to 7pm on weekdays, £185 from 7pm to midnight and £365 from midnight to 7am, all plus VAT. Weekend rates are £185, £210 and £390. There is a one-hour minimum, then billing in 15-minute increments.

How much does a heating engineer or boiler service cost?

Heating and gas work is £150 per hour plus VAT on weekdays from 7am to 7pm. A boiler service or landlord Gas Safety Certificate is a fixed £145 plus VAT on weekday daytimes, or £280 plus VAT for both together. Evening and weekend prices are on our rates page.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No. There is no separate call-out fee. You pay for time spent on the job at our published hourly rate, with a one-hour minimum and then 15-minute increments, plus any materials. Emergencies during normal working hours are charged at our standard rates, not a premium.

How are materials charged?

Materials supplied by WeFix carry a 30% trade charge on top of their cost, and each item is listed on your invoice with its price. You are welcome to supply your own fittings, such as taps or a bathroom suite, and our engineer will check they suit your system first.

Trust

How do I know who is coming to my home?

Before your engineer arrives, our call centre sends you their name, photo and vehicle registration. Every WeFix engineer wears company uniform, carries photo ID, drives a liveried WeFix van and has passed a comprehensive background check including DBS clearance. If anything doesn't match, call us before opening the door.

Are your engineers qualified and insured?

Yes. Our tradespeople are fully qualified, experienced and insured. Gas and boiler work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, electrical work by NICEIC registered electricians, and air conditioning by F-Gas certified engineers. Every engineer is DBS checked before joining, and office staff are vetted too.

Guarantees

What guarantee do you give on your work?

All WeFix workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months. New boilers come with manufacturer warranties of up to 12 years, new bathroom installations are guaranteed for 10 years and new roofs for 20 years. Your itemised invoice records the work done, which makes any follow-up visit straightforward.

Payment

How do I pay, and what will my invoice show?

Payment is due in full when you receive the invoice. We accept all major credit and debit cards, and engineers carry secure chip and pin machines and give you a receipt. The invoice shows labour, start and finish times, the work carried out, and itemised materials with costs.

Estimates

Can I get a fixed price instead of paying by the hour?

Yes. Work can be charged hourly, as a written estimate or fixed price, or as a day rate. Larger jobs such as boiler replacements, bathrooms and refurbishments always get a written estimate first. Some surveys and reports are chargeable, and we tell you before booking if so.

Areas

Which areas of London do you cover?

We cover all of Greater London from our head office at 15 Newport Street, Kennington, SE11, including Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth, Camden, Islington, Hackney, the City and outer boroughs such as Bromley, Richmond and Kingston. We also cover Weybridge and Cobham in Surrey.

Emergencies

What should I do if I have a leak or burst pipe?

Turn off the water at the stopcock, usually under the kitchen sink. If water is near sockets or lights, switch off the electricity at the consumer unit. Open cold taps to drain the pipes, move valuables away and catch drips. Then call 020 7889 1111 for an emergency plumber.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave the property immediately, do not operate switches or use naked flames, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from outside. They will make the supply safe free of charge. Afterwards, call WeFix and a Gas Safe registered engineer will find and repair the fault.

Company

Who owns WeFix London?

WeFix London launched on 1 October 2024 and is registered as WEFIX LONDON LIMITED, company number 14625566.
